Background

The Association of Ambulance Professionals Uganda (AAPU) is seeking to recruit qualified candidates
with the Qualifications, Experience, and Abilities to serve as a Finance Officer for one of its Projects. The Finance Officer shall ensure that the finance and accounts matters of the Project are managed to the highest standards of accountability and compliance. The Finance Officer contributes to the financial viability of the association, carrying out key transactions to propel AAPU projects and jointly supports the financial management system, ensuring financial information is captured and retrievable promptly and that there are sufficient logistical to accomplish routine objectives. S/he then bares the ultimate responsibility for expenditure monitoring, reconciliation of payables, general ledger accounts, cash flow analysis and analysis of process costing, target setting, costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities, to ensure financial resources are accounted for/managed according to best practice and in compliance with accounting policies and laws of the Republic of Uganda.

Deliverables/Outcomes:

1. Ensures transactions associated with the project and expense claims are made according to policies and procedures
2. Submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly comprehensive finance reports.
3. Ensures full compliance with Uganda tax laws and good accounting practices regarding financial activities during project implementation.
4. Supports the budgeting and general financial management processes, ensuring resources are well managed.
5. Facilitate accountability by ensuring project staff raise requisitions and account for all expenses.
6. Ensures Project incomes are received and accurately recorded, ensuring that documentation is filed and retrievable.
7. Daily make QuickBooks entries, compile and reconcile daily QuickBooks entries and concerns.
8. Prepare accounting documents and other documents for audit purposes.

Qualifications and experience:

• A Degree in Finance and Accounting or a related field from a recognized Institution.
• 3 years working experience in a similar job role.
• Experience working with accounting software, including QuickBooks.
• Certification in any Accounting training is an added advantage.

Conditions:

• Starting date: Immediately
• Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
• Duration of contract: 1 year with possible extension subject to donor funding.
• Salary: Gross monthly pay of UGX 2,670,437
