There is currently no Ambulance Services Act in Uganda although this is work in progresses at Ministry of Health under the department of Emergency Medical Services. However, world over the ambulance regulations require that periodic safety inspections be performed on each licensed ambulance operating in the country. Properly conducted
safety inspections will identify components that are in need of repair or replacement to maintain the ambulance in safe, reliable running order.
The Association offers inspection services and provides standards for an ideal ambulance service in the country. These inspections are done by the pull of EMS technical personnel trained and mentored by government MOH-EMS Department and development partners such as Malteser International. In the past, we have conducted inspections for Kampala Capital City Authority, Lubaga Hospital, Districts such as Kasese and Lwengo.
