“Understanding the burden and impact of injuries in East Africa to improve Emergency care preparedness, mitigation and response”
About the Event
Globally, over 4.4 million people die from injuries annually, and over 50 million survive with disability—nearly twice the number of deaths from Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and malaria combined.
While global trends show a minor decrease in injury burden over the past decade, East Africa continues to see a steady increase, with road traffic crashes being the leading cause of death among young people.
A robust and rapidly responsive emergency care system is crucial to adequately address this escalating public health threat, spanning pre- and in-hospital settings.
This event brings together experts, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders from across East Africa to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing to enhance understanding and improve emergency care.
